Gerry Tapscott

At the club since September 1997

Gerry plays acoustic guitar and sings mainly contemporary material - she also writes her own songs ('Cold Cappuccino' is definitely a firm club favourite!). She contributed material to the locally written and produced play 'The People Must Pay' which was performed at the Phoenix Theatre in Blyth in the summer of 2004.

Her main musical influences include Beth Nielson-Chapman and Nanci Griffiths.

Gerry and John Redpath used to perform regularly as a duo, and they still occasionally play together.

Club Quotes

  • Can't speak highly enough of Gerry's voice and choice of material...
  • Cracking collection of songs. Superb voice...
  • Excellent voice and guitar. Sings contemporary songs and a couple of her own writings...
  • Better than she believes - fine singer with a well chosen repertoire including some of her own...
  • A fantastic voice, tasteful material...
  • Lovely singer (when she remembers the words!). Good choice of songs and does well to accompany herself on some non-obvious chords...
  • Must try and keep awake...
  • A great 'butt' for in-house jokes - eg decorating, missing the Christmas bus, and the dead rabbit scenario 'regulars will understand'...
