Allan Savage ran the night without PA, beginning with 3 from John Baston who demonstrated his guitar skills playing numbers by Blind Blake, Chet Atkins and Bert Jansch.

Accompanied throughout by Allan Savage on the banjo, Jimmy & Carol had the audience singing along with a fine selection of country songs from Sam Bush, Alison Krauss and Buddy Holly.

Playing a plethora of instruments, Pete Coe entertained us with dulcimer, bouzouki, banjo and a selection of button accordions while singing and dancing. Yes, he dances while he sings and plays a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs including some self penned numbers.

After a short break and raffle John Baston began the 2nd half with an Isaac Guillory song, ‘High Flying’. Then, with Jimmy on Carol’s double bass, he played a blues instrumental.

A visit by Ken Tonge produced a Steve Tilston song and a lullaby called ‘Rocky Road’ - a song he first learned 40 years ago from a Peter Paul and Mary LP!

In their 2nd spot Jimmy & Carol sang the Kate Wolfe song ‘Here in California’ and finished with ‘Blue Ridge Mountain Blues’.

More multi-instrumentalism, more dancing, more singing, more humour and more stories from Pete Coe brought the night to a close - and, yes, there was more as he encored with a wry musical dig at the lineage of the monarchy.
