Audrey Guest: Tom McConville Support: jiva A fairly quiet night but some great music. jiva got the night off to a splendid start with the self penned 'Dream On' which Jimmy dedicated to Val. They followed this with Allan Taylor's 'Jimmy's Song' and ended with another of their own, 'One More Song' - a club favourite. Terry Fletcher started his set with 'Cruel To Be Kind', then the obligatory joke. 2nd was 'Where did It All Go Right' (I wonder if it did?), and he closed with 'The Hard Way'. Guest Time: Tom brought along his good mate David Wood (Woody) on guitar. Their first song was Allan Taylor's 'Fiddler John' which they followed with a set of hornpipes, more tunes and songs. Tom sang 'The Blarney Roses (a request) before they finished the 1st half with Tom's 'Tune For Michael'. Then, after a short break and raffle, jiva had everybody singing along with their own 'Different Dreams' and a Christmas carol, 'Silent Night'! Once more Terry was in good form with 'Festival Cottages' and 'Yesterday Walked In' - both Fletcher originals. Guest Time again: Tom and Woody got off to a great start with tunes 'The Duke Of Fife', 'Earl Grey', and 'Cambridge Hornpipe'. They did Steve Tilston's 'Rocky Road', more tunes and a great version of that fine Richard Thompson song, 'Beeswing'. After another fine set it was all too soon time to say farewell to old friend Tom and new mate Woody. Songs and tunes were all introduced with reminiscences and stories from Tom - he even managed to get through the night without calling too many folk 'cissy'... All in all, a really good night.
