Eddie has been to the club many times before and is a favourite with the regulars. He sings a mixture of blues, ragtime, hillbilly and country music combined with his own compositions and amazing fingerpickin' instrumentals. His influences and choice of songs range from the very old 1930's Jimmy Rogers ''Mississippi Delta Blues' and 'Deep River Blues' to the more modern 1970's Steve Goodwin 'Don't Go Looking For Trouble' and the Western swing style of Rev. Gary Davis 'Hesitation Blues'. His party piece is a great mouth trumpet solo and his yodelling is pretty good too! Other songs in the first half included 'Unwed Fathers' (John Prine) and his very own version of 'Raglan Road'. Absolutely great!!

Following Keith's challenge to the residents, to find the most obscure Christmas song, Eddie started the ball rolling in the second half with a few of his own! He finally succumbed completely to the sentimentality of Christmas with 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' (just in case you miss the Wizard of Oz on the telly this year), and the Christmas medley 'Winter Wonderland/White Christmas/Jingle Bells' by which time we all felt quite festive.

Eddie was supported by Terry Fletcher (how does he make singing seem so effortless?) and Mike Hughes, doing his last support for a while, who took the opportunity to pay a few tributes to friends and family. Both sang some popular songs well known to the regulars which had us all singing along.

Thanks to Eddie for an excellent evening's entertainment. Thanks to Terry and Mike for the support, also Dave and J.R. on the sound, Audrey on the door, Keith in the Chair......... and thanks to everyone for coming!!
