Christmas party time at the Club tonight - plenty of good food (well bad really, sausage rolls and plenty of sweeties and such like!) and there was good music as well!

The first half of the evening saw the usual mix of floor singers doing two apiece but with no suggestion of Christmas about any of them! And Christmas only a week away.

There followed the usual raffle during the break and then it was competition time. The challenge had been set the week before at the Club - find an obscure Christmas song! There were entries from Allan Savage (ably assisted by Jimmy Powells on double bass), Jimmy & Carol, Ken Cross, Kit, Sue Bardsley and Terry Fletcher with the judges being two of the regular audience at the club. They must have had a hard job deciding as there was a great mix of humour, pathos, foreign languages and absolute naffness!

While they were deliberating jiva came on to continue the floor singer spots and brought some Christmas magic to the Club with a smashing rendition of the classic carol 'Silent Night'. The Cramlington Choir were in their element - the room swelled with the sound of wonderful harmonies. Absolutely magic!

The winner of the competition? Ken Cross! Well done! There was, however, no reprise of the winning song as some of the regulars came up on the stage at the end to perform their standard 'Twelve Days Of Christmas'  with actions - you have to be there to believe it.

All in all a very enjoyable night and everyone went home happily waiting for Christmas to come.
